Activism in Civil Rights

Bob Roehr: “He embraced the civil rights movement, organizing a sit-in at a bus station restaurant in Aberdeen, Maryland in 1962; meeting Martin Luther King, Jr. at the 1963 March on Washington. While conducting voter-registration in Montgomery, Alabama he was bashed so severely by deputy sheriffs that for several days doctors did not know if he would survive.”
