Please join ACT UP Philadelphia & allies for a rally in Washington, DC on Thursday November 20th.We will demand the next president prioritize HIV in his first 100 days in office - He must make preventing and treating AIDS a priority in the US and around the world.    WE WILL NOT REST IN PEACE     ACT UP will be demanding the next president:

  • Guarantee treatment for all people with HIV in the US before they get sick, as part of a universal health care plan
  • Provide housing for all people with HIV by fully funding HOPWA
  • End funding for abstinence-only education at home and abroad because it is stigmatizing and harmful & end the federal ban on funding for syringe exchange
  • Reform the US Global AIDS Plan to work for all people, including getting rid of the sex worker loyalty oath.

This World AIDS Day, our next president -whoever he is - must make fighting AIDS, especially in marginalized communities, a priority in his first 100 days in office. We're facing mounting infections because proven prevention methods have not been funded. Treatment and prevention of HIV exists, and it is unacceptable that preventable deaths still occur because of economic and political barriers to access. Communities of color, women, youth, people who do sex work and men who have sex with men are disproportionately affected, a systemic crisis that will only worsen if effective resources are not made available.   Mark the 20th off on your calender, cancel your plans, call out of work and bring your friends with you to DC.  Lets make this World AIDS Day a powerful reminder to the next president that People With AIDS Will Not Rest in Peace, and that the next president must treat and prevent HIV at home and abroad. Feel free to email actupphilly at gmail.com if you have questions about free buses or would liketo donate (much needed) funds because you can't make it.****You can ALSO join our weekly conference call to help plan; email if interested****
