IMPORTANT: INBOX Maintenance

Your email account has a capacity of 5120KB. Our 30 day Inbox clean-up helps. Email stored in folders is not removed during monthly cleaning sessions. However, folder contents should be periodically reviewed/discarded, especially the Trash folder, where there is an option: Empty Trash Folder.

Disabled Mail

Cannot receive mail? You may have large files (over 100KB) in your Inbox. Pictures/video clips “eat up” space. Download, or move them to another folder, so that you can receive incoming mail.

mail_police@CritPath.Org will send a warning email that your account is nearing capacity. There will be a notice that your account is Disabled when capacity is reached. If your mailbox is Disabled for 30 days, your account will be deleted. It is essential to remove unused files from the server to allow Critical Path to function efficiently. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Download Mail

When you download your mail to your computer, you are saving the message to a file on your computer. The mail gets stored on your computer and can be deleted from your Inbox. However once deleted, that message is only viewable on the computer it was saved to. The message is no longer web-based.

Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, Thunderbird, and Netscape Mail are all email clients. They are not web-based; when using pop they automatically download email from the Critical Path server to your local hard drive. These programs are best for people who only work with one computer and offer many options for storing and managing your mail. You can choose whether or not to download a copy of the email to the computer and leave the original on the Critical Path mail server. Remember, the server will be remove old email every 30 days. You can also save mail to a disk.

Please look at your account:

  1. Do you have large files in your Inbox?
  2. Do you need to create some folders to better manage your mail?
  3. Do you need Filter Management to automatically delete, e.g., [possible spam] or ****Possible Phish**** to keep space open in your Inbox?
  4. Do you need to keep a copy of your email on the server – can you download to your PC?
  5. Do you periodically review Folder contents and Empty Trash Folder?
