An Open Letter from a PFLAGMOM http://www.critpath.org/pflag-talk/openletter.html
Chicago PFLAG member Nancy Lamkin Olson writes about her concerns for gay
children everywhere when it comes to ... sex. [Note: This article was written
in response to an opinion piece by Larry Kramer in the New York Times on
December 12, 1997. The Times and Mr. Kramer have graciously given us permission
to reprint that article here, and the webmaster should be doing that sometime
soon.] Nancy's articles (and a very thoughtful thread of discussion on
PFLAG-Talk) were inspired by the "Sex Panic" movement. Some links (outside
of the library) to Sex Panic articles can be found at
Two other related articles are now in the library, courtesy of San
Francisco Frontiers magazine: Sexual Outlaws
and Conditions of Unconditionality

Chadron Campaign Against Homophobia http://www.critpath.org/action-project/chadron.html
A college student gets gaybashed and drops out of a Nebraska state
college. This website by Maggie Heineman started with the story about that
student, Matt McNeil. A work in progress, it now reports on Gabi's Clayton's
son who killed himself, RheaMurray's son who had to leave highschool, and
an anonymous student at Chadron High School student who writes poetry about
being imprisoned by fear. There are links to resources to combat teen suicide
and homophobia in schools.
-
DePauw Campaign Against Homophobia http://www.critpath.org/action-project/depauw.html
The campus newspaper does a homophobic parody. The faculty advisor
to the glbt student group echoes Rhea Murray's cry of "NO MORE" and sets
in motion a chain of events, including this website by Maggie Heineman,
which leads to positive action at DePauw University.
-
